Transport to Medical Appointments
If you have difficulty in getting to a medical appointment we have a group of about 50 volunteer Drivers who can collect you from your home, take you to your hospital or other medical appointment and bring you back. We also offer services to local surgeries and medical practitioners.
Our drivers are fully insured; DBS checked and all drivers have photo ID badges. We cover all of the major hospital and clinics that the local GP practice use for both diagnostic and consultancy referrals.
The service is free. However many of our clients kindly give us a donation to support the Charity's work.
Our transport is provided by volunteer drivers using their own cars. We can accommodate folding wheelchairs and walking frames. Please let us know when you book so that we can allocate a driver who has a suitable sized car. We would ask that a parent or an appropriate adult accompany young children. Dementia sufferers should also be accompanied by another adult who can assist them once inside the hospital or clinic.
Please call our Help Line – 01590 681 500 and select option 1 to book this service. It helps us if you can give us plenty of advance notice – a minimum of a week, if possible. Our phone lines are not permanently manned, but you can leave a message at any time.
